Employment History:

 

  • Feb –July 2015  –Lead Traineeships Tutor: Skills Training, Ealing W13 8RA Duties included inducting and designing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) for new learners and leading employability training sessions to participants aged 16-24 from all backgrounds and of varying abilities. Sourcing and preparing them for work or work experience placements for a highly respected Prime Contractor within the sector. I also act as a mentor and provide assistance to overcome barriers as well as in-work support to Learners. Completing all internal and external paperwork in an accurate and timely fashion in line with funding requirements. I also create learning materials and attend management level strategic meetings and team meetings to share the aforementioned materials and best practice with colleagues as well as to discuss the day to day running of the Centre. I liaise with a number of different Job Centres and other partners as well as attending their staff meetings and Centres to promote the Traineeship programme and to meet with and sign up potential learners for the course. I also represent the organisation at Job Fairs and other learner-centred recruitment events.
  • Dec 14 –Feb 15 –ESOL & Functional Skills Trainer for and behalf of JTJ Workplace Solutions, Lambeth Careers College and JTJ Workplace Solutions  SE18 6SW Emergency Cover Tutor on a short-term contract covering staff absence instructing  ESOL classes at Lambeth College (and teaching the Maths element of the Functional Skills syllabus for young people in the government's Traineeship Programme at JTJ's own training centre in Woolwich.

 

  • Oct –Nov 14 –Employability Trainer, Avanta, Aldgate, London EC3N 1LS Short-Term Contract trainer leading groups of unemployed participants on 10-13 day BTEC Work in the Retail Industry and Work Skills courses. These courses aim to build participant's  confidence and prepare them for work in the retail sector. Due to the mandatory nature of these course my other duties include ensuring all paperwork is completed appropriately, punctually and in compliance with the examining board and the Department of Work and Pensions requirements.

 

  • March 14-Oct 14 Training Consultant/ Career Coach, Bite Consulting, WC2H 7AS My responsibilties included Interviewing prospective candidates for a a 10 step job search training programme for professional contractors, with a 98.5% success rate, in central London.Providing career coaching and mentoring to enhance career paths and helping candidates get the right job, at the right rate, as quickly as possible. Additionally I assisted in the day to day running of the business, answered calls and undertook basic administration duties to facilitate the smooth of running of the organisation.

 

  • Aug 13- Feb 14: Student Liaison and Recruitment Officer, Nulli Secondus IG8 8HD: Responding to enquiries for interested applicants (usually NEETS) and prospective employers in variety of formats; arranging and conducting 1-2-1 and group meetings, feeding back relevant information to colleagues internally and externally and inputting results into databases and spreadsheets; designing and leading training sessions to unemployed participants; co-leading recruitment events for interested applicants and prospective employers; designing new and updating existing marketing materials in a variety of formats; screening candidates and preparing them for interviews with prospective employers; designing new and updating existing administrative documents.

 

  • Oct 2012- Aug 13: Back to Work Advisor, The Twin Group SE13 5JX: Responsibilities included conducting 1-2-1 and group meetings and training sessions to unemployed Work Programme customers; Offering advice and co-leading recruitment events to screen candidates and prepare them for interviews; Identifying training needs and job matching with various community based Employer Engagement Officers

 

  • March 2012- Oct 12 Workforce Development Consultant: The Twin Group SE13 5JX Responsible for identifying and contacting decision-making individuals in appropriate schools and businesses with a view to enrol their employees on workplace-based free government funded NVQ training programmes.  This role comprised of: preparing and leading presentations to groups of varying sizes or individuals; creating and maintaining databases of contacts; responding to enquiries in a variety of formats; overseeing the enrollment process from beginning to end; ensuring the completion of appropriate paperwork and adherence to eligibility criteria; invigilating initial assessment of suitability, literacy and numeracy tests and evaluating the results; liaison with the Assessor’s team regarding the observations of my assessments; partaking in a variety of marketing activities such as writing promotional articles and mailshots, and attending networking events.

 

  • Aug- Dec 2011: Marketing Officer: EThames Graduate School E14 9SG Sourcing, contacting, meeting and corresponding with universities, language school and educational agents based both in the UK and abroad with a view to signing them up to recruit students for English Language and Higher and Further Education university level courses.  Attending trade and student recruitment fairs and regularly participated in team meetings to discuss new marketing strategies and drew up and presented proposals for bespoke course requests.

 

  • Sept 09- March 11: Trainer Advisor: YMCA Training E17 7NX Responsibilities included running Gateway to Work courses;  assisting, mentoring and empowering NEETS with their quest to find work through training modules and supported job search sessions; liaising with local Job Centres to arrange assistance and subsequent courses for participants following the end of their courses; conducting initial interviews and end of course reviews to ascertain needs and set targets for participants, that I consequently reviewed with attendees and fedback to their Job Centre Advisers; supervising participants on team-building activities such as at an outdoor activity centre; ensuring that all internal operational and governmental compliance paperwork was completed professionally; undertaking weekly petty cash reconciliation; attending regular local and regional team meetings; attending other centres to cover absent staff on a needs basis.

  • Marketing Accounts Executive - Responsibilities included marketing Waterloo School of English (WSE) and Waterloo House College (WHC) in the UK and abroad by networking, using publicity and marketing materials and plans I produced; organising and participating in in-house meetings and internal and external meetings with agents; attending trade fairs and network meetings; brokering deals with suppliers, keeping updated paper trails of all orders and contacts; sourcing and negotiating prices for external classroom accommodation; developing links to Universities that I would have to inspect to check appropriate for progression in study in order to achieve recognition for the school Foundation Programme. 

 

  • School Social Welfare and Liaison Officer - Responsibilities included assisting the Director of Studies with Class Placement Interviews; co-leading the student Welcome Session; conducting termly tutorials and holding weekly surgeries for students to ensure their continual satisfaction with the school and learning programmes; advising students with common welfare issues such as finding a job, writing CVs and accommodation problems; designing information sheets and booklets for student information and welfare; peripatetic cover teaching and reception duties; organising student parties; ensuring the smooth running of the school Social Programme.

  • Course Tutor/ Assistant Director of Studies - Responsibilities included observing and grading trainee teachers; leading input sessions; guiding candidates through their TESOL course; marking coursework; leading Guided Observations; participating in the end of course moderation with colleagues; redesigning publicity for the school to encourage more learners to join; canvassing local businesses to promote the school and to establish discounts for our trainees; undertaking administration duties and dealing with the day-to-day running of the language school (handling enquiries of existing and prospective trainees/students); deputising for the Director of Studies.

Hobbies and Interests

 

I enjoy reading, writing poetry, playing football, scuba diving, swimming, yoga, designing t-shirts and travelling. I also as have a keen interest in etymology, history and philosophy.
